Real photos from around Concho/St.Johns and the high desert of Arizona's White Mountains — the grasslands, the junipers, the lakes, the snow, and those big blue skies.
Concho and St. Johns sit at roughly 6,000 feet in Apache County, where the landscape shifts dramatically with the seasons. Summer brings monsoon storms that roll in fast over the grassland, winter can bring real snow that dusts the junipers, and in between there are long stretches of clear, dry, wide-open sky that make this part of Arizona feel a lot bigger than a map suggests. These photos were taken right here, on ordinary days, by the people who actually live in this community.
